Moving to Mallorca for work: your first month
Registration, a place to live and getting around. What to sort out in your first weeks in Palma.

Most colleagues arrive with a suitcase and a start date. The rest falls into place in the first few weeks, and you do not have to work it out alone.
Register as an EU or EEA citizen
If you stay longer than three months, you register with the Spanish authorities and receive a certificate with your NIE, the foreign identity number used for work, banking and rentals. Swedish, Danish and Norwegian citizens follow the same process.
Find a place to live
Many colleagues start in a shared flat and move once they know the city. Neighbourhoods close to the office at Porto Pi, such as El Terreno, Santa Catalina and Cala Major, are popular because you can walk or take a short bus ride.
Sign up at the town hall
Registering your address at the Ajuntament de Palma, the empadronamiento, is needed for many everyday things, from a local bus card to some bank services.
Ask your team
Your team lead and colleagues have done all of this before. Ask them first. It is the fastest way to get settled.
